Healing Modalities

Tools for healing the root, not just the symptoms.

At Healing on Purpose, we believe healing is deeply personal and that no one approach fits all. That’s why Tanya draws from a range of evidence-based therapeutic modalities to meet each client exactly where they are. Every technique is chosen with intention, compassion, and care to support your unique healing journey.

Below are the modalities Tanya is trained in and may integrate into your sessions. Whether you’re navigating trauma, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, or disconnection from self, these approaches work together to foster transformation, resilience, and emotional freedom.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT is a mindfulness-based therapeutic approach that helps you stop fighting your thoughts and emotions and instead, begin to relate to them with curiosity, acceptance, and compassion. At Healing on Purpose, ACT is used to help clients create space between themselves and their struggles, while gently reconnecting to their values and sense of purpose. Rather than trying to "fix" painful experiences, ACT teaches you to hold them lightly and live more fully, even in the presence of discomfort.

Solution-Focused Therapy

This strengths-based, future-oriented modality focuses on what’s working, rather than what’s broken. Solution-Focused Therapy helps clients uncover their own inner wisdom and resources, guiding them to identify achievable goals and meaningful change often in just a few sessions. Tanya uses this approach to help you move from feeling stuck to stepping into possibility, supporting progress without overwhelming you with the past.

Narrative Therapy

Narrative Therapy is grounded in the belief that you are not your problems—you are the storyteller of your own life. This approach gently separates the person from the issue, allowing you to examine, rewrite, and reclaim your narrative through a more empowered lens. At Healing on Purpose, Narrative Therapy is especially powerful for clients who are healing from generational trauma, internalized beliefs, or identity-based wounds, helping you rewrite the story you’ve inherited and reconnect with the truth of who you are.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT is one of the most widely used and researched therapies for treating anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns. At its core, CBT helps you identify and reframe unhelpful thought patterns and behaviors that may be reinforcing distress. Tanya incorporates CBT to support clients in developing practical coping tools, increasing emotional awareness, and building healthier mental habits that promote long-term well-being.

Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT for PTSD)

CPT is a specialized form of cognitive therapy developed specifically to treat Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). It helps clients identify and shift the core beliefs that have been impacted by trauma—particularly those related to safety, trust, power, and worth. In Tanya’s trauma-informed approach, CPT is used to gently explore the impact of trauma, validate your emotional experience, and guide you toward greater self-understanding and empowerment.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

EMDR is a highly effective, evidence-based treatment for trauma, anxiety, and emotional distress. Using bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements), EMDR helps the brain process and rewire distressing memories, so they no longer carry the same emotional charge. It is a powerful modality for clients who feel stuck in past experiences or emotionally overwhelmed by unresolved trauma. At Healing on Purpose, EMDR is offered in a safe, supportive environment where healing can happen gently, yet deeply.
